In this episode of the Thyroid Answers podcast, I flip the tables. Instead of me interviewing a guest, Nutritionist Jessie Thomas is asking me some of her questions regarding health and thyroid physiology.

Topics discussed:

  • What role do diet and lifestyle play in our cellular health and how does that affect our stress response?

  • How do mood, energy, and the quality of our menstrual cycle give us an indication that we can act on our health before we have a technical diagnosis?

  • What are the types of hypothyroidism to look for?

  • How would does thyroid hormone affect critical thinking, executive function, intuition, and our ability to act powerfully in the changing world?

  • What are general labs every woman should pursue with their health care provider?

  • What labs should women pursue if she is not getting to the bottom of their fatigue, anxiety, and depression?

Jessie Thomas is a nutritionist and holistic health coach based in Missoula, Montana. After spending years in a depleted state from the effects of overspending her internal resources she now coaches people through their health challenges to empower and inspire agency on their health journeys.

In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Carrie Jones. If you are one of the few people who has not heard of Dr. Jones, she is a naturopathic physician and one of the best educators on the planet. Especially when it comes to hormones. Hormones are her thing. Dr. Carrie recently made some big changes so I sit down with her to have a candid conversation and discuss:
  • What she is doing now (spoiler alert, she is no longer with Precision Analytical)
  • The biggest challenges with functional medicine
  • What are the root causes of chronic health conditions
  • The foundational things everyone can address to improve their health and wellbeing
  • If Carrie Jones was in charge of healthcare what would be the top three things you would do?

Carrie Jones, ND, FABNE, MPH is an internationally recognized speaker, consultant, and educator on the topic of women's health and hormones with over 20 years in the industry. Dr. Jones graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she also completed a 2-year residency in women's health, hormones, and endocrinology. Later, she graduated from Grand Canyon University's Master of Public Health program.  Dr. Jones was one of the first to became board certified through the American Board of Naturopathic Endocrinology and currently serves on the board.  She was the Medical Director for the DUTCH Test for several years and is a Clinical Expert for the Lifestyle Matrix Resource Center and Under Armour. Currently, she is the Head of Medical Education at Rupa Health and host of the Root Cause Medicine Podcast.
